It's looking increasingly likely that the knee problem I have had since late July is autoimmune-related. It could be that I have rheumatoid arthritis. My very excellent rheumatologist and I are trying out some final diagnostic stuff, including a week of blessed relief from joint swelling and pain thanks to evil steroids with bad long-term side effects. (Shame about the side effects. As a treatment for this particular joint pain, works like a charm!)
It will be good to have a final diagnosis and move on to long-term strategies for treating it, or coping with it. But just let me add: getting older. Blah.
