Yesterday Jamie and I went into PS 185, the public school two doors down from our house, and registered him for Kindergarten there in the fall. He's quite pleased at the idea, and I've seen him watching the kids being dropped off there in the mornings the past couple of days as if trying to begin to understand the process. He's excited about his Spring Recital at school this Wednesday night; his class is performing the song "All-Star", which was featured in one of the Shrek movies, and they have a whole set of dance-actions he rehearses at the drop of a hat.
AJ is two. Has been for a while, but now he's, like, TWO. Everything is "I want" or "I don't want"; the tone of voice ranges from plaintive to whiny, and the volume is uniformly much too high; and if he's crossed in anything he cries big angry tears. He's also quite funny, fortunately. The other day he climbed up behind me on the dining room chair I was sitting on. I leaned back a little, trapping him between my back and the chair back. He looked over my shoulder at Jamie, who was across the table from us finishing his supper, and said, "Jamie! Mummy 'quishing your little brother!"
