So many days, so little blogging...I guess there hasn't really been much that seemed newsworthy.

We were in Kemptville for three weeks, and Jamie had the time of his life. I'm not sure he's really forgiven me yet for the loss of the ready access to the great outdoors that was part of his Kemptville routine, although he was very happy yesterday to see his old friend, Carroll Park, again. There was a breeze, and we spent almost two hours playing happily there.

I made a dash to Toronto midway through the Kemptville visit to clean up the Exultate files and transition to my successor. I'd hoped to see a lot of other people while I was there, but came down with a really horrible cold. When I wasn't working, I was lying down feeling sorry for myself and dreaming of Tylenol Cold with extra sinus relief...so my last visit to TO prior to the baby's arrival was less of a social trip than I'd wanted it to be. The transition went well, but unfortunately for all of us, ten days after I'd handed off to Bruno, he resigned to take a full time position he had not expected to be offered. So Exultate is scrambling, and I'm still doing a thing or two for the organization as the fall approaches. In the next few days, I need to do a final brain-dump on current initiatives; I have an inkling that Fishie will make his appearance earlier than 27 September, and I don't want to leave anyone stuck for information.

Tracy came back with Jamie and me from Kemptville, and stayed a week; it was great to have the extra hands around the house. I'm up nearly 50 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight and am feeling very tired just now; the freedom to take an extra nap now and again was heavenly. She went back on Monday, carrying her own version of the cold. Jamie has it again now, and I think I'm getting it too. Rrrrrrrgh.

Had a call from my cousin Jessica, or more properly speaking, my cousin Colin's wife Jessica, today; they moved over the weekend and are in the throes of unpacking. It sounds like their move wasn't much fun; Jess mentioned some breakage or damage that she's particularly unhappy about. I don't know that we've ever had a move proceed without something of the sort, but it should be possible...Anyway, we're planning to go out and see their new house and the community in which it's found sometime in the next ten days or so, and then there will be little Ian's first birthday party!

We made an epic voyage to Ikea over the weekend and bought a new desk and storage drawer combination that we're really pleased with; it replaces the very old and decrepit Ikeaware that Paul had from long before we were married. The Ikea really isn't that far away; it's just across Staten Island and up the NJ Turnpike a short distance. So I was inspired to go back yesterday for a tall, narrow shelving unit that will hold a bunch of Jamie's toys and keep them off the floor of the living area. They loaded it into the car for me, and Paul brought it into the apartment last night (Jamie and his stroller together are as much extra weight as I can currently manage!). This morning, Jamie and I put it together. It looks OK and does exactly what I was hoping it would do to clear the clutter off the floor. Now I feel inspired to put some more stuff on the walls and get it off the floor. At this rate, I may even vacuum sometime soon. But mornings are my active time; I feel my energy flagging already as we move into afternoon. By 5pm I'll be wishing for a nap.

Actually, since Jamie is asleep now, I should probably try for a half-hour on spec! I'll be trying to get some pictures posted to the website in the next couple of days; there's a huge summer backlog, and some of them are pretty good.
