I think poor Jamie has an earache. He's not sleeping well, and he keeps scrabbling at his ear as if it itches. I'm going to try to get him in to see his Brooklyn pediatrician tomorrow. Lucky baby - he's updating his immunities well. (Sigh...)

I'm annoyed. My bike was stolen in Toronto a couple of weeks ago, and although I've reported it to the police, a bike walking off in the bike theft capital of North America isn't likely to reappear. And our insurance deductible is $500, which (for a bike that cost $800 new) means it doesn't make good sense to claim it on our policy. Arrrrgh! I liked that bike...never mind that I couldn't ride it much this year. Jamie will be old enough to ride in a baby seat next summer...

People who steal bikes should have...something bad happen to them. Something involving a LOT of walking.

We had the scariest cockroach I've seen in North America crawling up our walls last night. It was THIS big, and had feelers THIS long and legs THIS hairy...gross, huh? We defended our home and sleeping infant against the invader in the only way possible. And this morning I found the carcass and bravely disposed of it.

Paul's at the office this evening working on multiple deals; he's expecting this week to be hair-raising and is trying to get the jump on it as best he can. I'm going to straighten up the play area and the kitchen, do a little bit of preliminary work on Pax Christi Chorale's printed program for their Harvest Festival of Readings and Hymns on October 5, and then get to bed.

Ooooo, it's the middle of the night and I can't sleep. I got in very late after a push at the office to process a bunch of stuff for Exultate; I had hoped to get it all done before Mum and I went to see Two Pianos, Four Hands tonight at the Elgin, but it wasn't possible. Went back and did several more hours of work, so now I'm mostly caught up, except on sleep. I'm all keyed up, though.

It's a waste, 'cause Jamie is sleeping soundly right now, so I should be asleep too...but instead I'm communing with my laptop at 3am. This is silly!

The show was outstanding entertainment, and good music too. Richard Greenblatt and Ted Dykstra are evenly matched as musicians and actors, if this show was any indication. There was plenty of silliness to the evening; people were howling. I was one of them (although the stuff I found funniest wasn't the stuff most of the people around me seemed to like the best).

I wonder which came first, the Tarragon workshop production of 2P4H or Mary Lou Fallis' initial Prima Donna show? Must find out sometime.

No new posts lately. Jamie has been up a lot at night with sore gums, and I'm slow and stupid (relatively speaking) from lack of sleep just now. And it's soooooo busy! Everything starts up again in the fall, and it's great...but busy.

Maybe I'll be more coherent later...

Feeling a bit under the weather today. Bleah. The painkillers I was prescribed make me very dizzy and light-headed, so I'm not taking them! Very glad to have Mum here to help with Jamie, who is as bouncy and energetic as always, and teething AGAIN!

Tomorrow we're driving up to Kemptville, leaving Paul to his own devices here until next weekend when he will probably come up to Toronto. Jamie and I will be in Kemptville for the weekend, and then in Toronto for a couple of weeks. We're looking forward to meeting cousin Ariana, who is staying (with her parents Ian and Ruth) at our place until September 20. And I'm looking forward to getting to work on the Aradia music for the Vivaldi project (concert September 13 at the Glenn Gould).

It's good to have something to look forward to when you're not feeling a hundred percent.

It's been a busy little while! After Stratford, we had a wonderful few days on my father's boat, then a comfortable overnight in Kemptville before our marathon Tuesday drive to Brooklyn. This morning I had my day surgery - had a Skene's gland removed under general anaesthetic - and I'm glad it's all done. Wasn't really that bad, though I'm a bit sore. Not, however, sore enough to skip a visit to New York Presbyterian Hospital this evening with Mum, Paul and Jamie to see Colin and Jess (both of whom look GREAT) and to meet new first-cousin-once-removed Ian James. Ian arrived Sunday afternoon, early and by C-section - sound familiar? Jess is doing wonderfully, and Ian is the spitting image of his father!

I'm kind of out of energy now. I guess I'm feeling some of the after-effects of surgery. Going to sit down for a while.
